Semaglutide 3 mg Tablets
Higher-strength GLP-1 receptor agonist formulation for advanced metabolic and weight management therapy.
Molecule & Mechanism
Semaglutide is a glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist that enhances glucose-dependent insulin secretion, suppresses glucagon, delays gastric emptying, and increases satiety. The 3 mg strength supports higher-dose chronic weight management in patients requiring greater metabolic support.
Indications — How It Is Used
Indicated as an adjunct to a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity for chronic weight management in adults with obesity (BMI ≥ 30) or overweight (BMI ≥ 27) with at least one weight-related comorbidity such as hypertension, dyslipidaemia, or type 2 diabetes.
Dosage & When To Take
The recommended maintenance dose is 3 mg taken orally once daily. Therapy is initiated at a lower dose and escalated in stepwise increments over 16 weeks to the 3 mg maintenance dose to minimise gastrointestinal effects.
How To Consume
Swallow the tablet whole with water. Take once daily at the same time each day, with or without food. Do not crush or chew. If a dose is missed for more than 5 days, resume on the scheduled day.
Who Can Use It
Adults with obesity or overweight with weight-related comorbidity. Not for use in type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis. Avoid in pregnancy and breastfeeding. Use cautiously in patients with retinopathy, pancreatitis history, or severe renal impairment.
Side Effects
Common: nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, constipation, dyspepsia, fatigue, dizziness. Less common: pancreatitis, gallstones, hypoglycaemia (when used with insulin or sulfonylureas).
Contraindications
History of MTC or MEN 2; hypersensitivity to semaglutide; pregnancy. Not for co-administration with other semaglutide-containing products or other GLP-1 receptor agonists.
